What would you like to know?

Thirteen answers to the questions we hear most often. Type a term or pick a topic.

How can I support the work of the Zeleni Nar association?

You can support us in several ways, by donating, volunteering, or getting your school, company, building or community involved in greening and education projects.

The simplest form of support is a donation. From 2,000 RSD and up you receive a T-shirt made of 100% eco cotton with a Zeleni Nar message, and from 5,500 RSD also a sapling that we plant in your name, with the location marked.

You choose the T-shirt size on the form on the Donations page, and you decide for yourself whether to appear on the public list of donors or remain anonymous.

Payments can be made by payment slip, e-banking, or by contacting us directly. All donations are used exclusively for carrying out the program activities set out in our statute.

Can companies and organizations donate?

Yes. Legal entities can donate in support of environmental projects and, if needed, also arrange:

  • A donation or sponsorship agreement (legally valid)
  • A cooperation agreement with defined project activities
  • A certificate of planting and participation in green programs
  • Branded plantings, with signs, logos and joint media promotion

We provide complete legal and administrative support and technical execution in the field.

Do you do greening of public and private spaces?

Yes. Zeleni Nar does planned greening of the following spaces:

Public spaces:

  • School yards
  • Parks and playgrounds
  • Municipal and state-owned plots
  • Neglected urban spaces

Private and semi-private spaces:

  • Gardens and yards of family homes
  • Company and business grounds
  • Tourist and hospitality complexes
  • Buildings and residents' associations, entrances, shared courtyards, roofs

When needed, we also design green spaces, select the saplings, educate residents or employees, and put up signs/markers about the planting.

How does cooperation with buildings and residents' associations work?

The Zeleni Nar association provides full support to residents' associations that want to green their:

  • Shared spaces in front of buildings
  • Inner courtyards and passageways
  • Flat roofs as green terraces (where technically feasible)
  • Vertical walls and facades (climbing vines, pillars, potted greenery)

The process includes:

  • An application from the interested building (residents' representative or building manager)
  • A site visit by the Zeleni Nar team
  • Analysis of the potential and a micro-plan for greening
  • Sourcing the saplings, carrying out the planting and caring for the plants afterward
  • Training residents in maintenance and sharing educational material
How can I become a volunteer and what does it involve?

Volunteering is voluntary, flexible and open to all citizens, regardless of age, occupation or prior knowledge. Every volunteer:

  • Receives a T-shirt, a badge, a guide and basic equipment
  • Is invited to a closed online group for coordinating events
  • Takes part in planting, education, logistics, design and promotion, depending on their interests
  • Has the opportunity to take part in training and knowledge sharing

You sign up through an online form. We make first contact by email, followed by joining the activities in your city or region.

Do you run educational programs? Where and how?

Yes. We run educational programs:

  • On request, for schools, companies, organizations or individuals
  • In the field, in parks, classrooms, nature or camps
  • Online, through Zoom workshops, digital packages and e-handbooks

Topics include:

  • Basics of urban ecology and sustainable development
  • Planting, plant care and understanding the plant world
  • Recycling, waste reduction and the circular economy
  • Adapting to climate change
  • Eco-ethics and personal responsibility toward nature

For schools we have complete workshops with accompanying material and workbooks.

Do you organize team building in nature?

Yes. We organize team building programs for companies and organizations that include:

  • Tree planting and landscaping as a team activity
  • Learning orienteering, finding your way in nature, and survival basics
  • Camping, building shelters, cooking over a fire
  • Eco-games and challenges that build trust and cooperation within the team

The program lasts 1 to 3 days, depending on the package and the number of participants. It takes place at pre-selected safe locations (forest sites around Belgrade and across Serbia).

What is the Digital Forest?

It is a digital knowledge base we are developing so that ecology is accessible to everyone. It contains:

  • PDF guides on planting, recycling and composting
  • Video tutorials on working in nature, planting and plant care
  • Presentations and lessons for teachers and schools
  • Interactive e-books and brochures about the nature of Serbia
  • Poetic messages and educational quotes for social media

All material is free to download and share.

What gifts do donors and members receive?

A donation of 2,000 RSD or more comes with a T-shirt made of 100% eco cotton. For larger amounts, from 5,500 RSD, the T-shirt is joined by a sapling planted in your name. On top of that, throughout the year we also give out:

  • Tote bags and hoodies
  • Mugs and glass bottles with Zeleni Nar messages
  • Rain ponchos for volunteers in the field
  • Saplings with a personalized label
  • A certificate of planting

For larger donations and partner programs we put together personalized packages.

Can I suggest a location for planting?

Of course. Whether you are a citizen or a representative of a school, company or residents' association, you can report:

  • A public space that has been neglected
  • A missing street tree row
  • An empty green area with nothing on it
  • A building that wants vines, a tree or mini-horticulture planted

After your report, our team will visit the site, make a plan, and include the location in upcoming planting events.

Do you work with local governments and institutions?

Yes. We actively seek and develop cooperation with:

  • Municipalities and cities
  • Schools, universities, kindergartens
  • Cultural and public institutions
  • Non-governmental organizations
  • Donor and development foundations

All cooperation models include formal agreements, joint activities and public acknowledgment of the partnership.

Can I give a sapling as a gift to someone else?

Yes. You can donate a sapling in the name of another person, a friend, family member, colleague or child. When making the payment, state the name of the person you are gifting the planting to, and we will send you a personalized certificate with a message. An ideal gift for birthdays, anniversaries or business thank-yous.

Can I get my whole school or company involved in a planting event?

Absolutely. Zeleni Nar offers a model of collective participation, through:

  • joint planting with employees and students,
  • education before the event,
  • the option of branding, filming and joint promotion,
  • a joint report for internal PR or ESG reporting.

For larger groups there is the option of arranging a dedicated date and package.
