One tree cools its own shade. A row of trees cools the whole street. The difference is not small, and you can see it on a thermometer.
When someone reaches out with the idea of planting one tree in front of their building, we always ask the same thing: could there be five, in a row?
Shade that keeps going
A single tree casts a shadow that moves during the day and covers a small circle. A row of trees creates an unbroken cool strip that a person can walk along the entire street. In city conditions, the difference in asphalt temperature between a sunlit and a shaded stretch easily exceeds ten degrees.
Wind and dust
A tree row slows the airflow and traps dust particles on the leaves. That is why we choose streets with heavy traffic, not just parks, where the air is already better anyway.
A community that looks after it
This is the reason that rarely gets mentioned. When fifteen saplings stand in a street, the neighbors notice them and join in with the watering themselves. Nobody sees one lonely tree as their own.
What we need from you
A tree row requires the consent of whoever manages the land, and that is most often the municipality or the building's residents' association. If you have a location in mind, let us know, we go out to the site and assess what is possible.
