Ragweed is our strongest allergen in late summer. Mowing it before it flowers is the only measure that really helps.

What EAQI is
The European Air Quality Index sums up several pollutants into a single number. It takes the worst of them, so a value of 40 means at least one substance is at the limit, not that the average is mediocre.
Where the particles come from
In winter mostly from individual coal and wood stoves, and all year round from traffic, construction sites and industry. That is why the air is worst in neighborhoods without district heating and along busy roads.
What trees can do here
A canopy catches particles on its leaves, and a row of trees along the street lowers their concentration on the sidewalk. A tree does not fix the source of the pollution, but it cuts down what you breathe in as you walk by.
How accurate the measurement is
The data comes from the European CAMS model, which combines satellite observations and a network of ground stations. For your street the value can differ from the whole city, especially at a busy intersection.
